Phu’s Trax69 custom

Posted by True Gamer On May - 15 - 2010

Stick around long enough and you’ll realize that I am obsessed with the work of Phu. His latest custom, built from a Mr. Power figure, is Trax69.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not impressed by the craftsmanship. Judging from the visible layers of rectangles, I’m pretty sure that the only thing holding the top-half together is tape, which will surely lose its grip after a few years. I feel bad for the sucker who paid for this. Some day, this little guy will fall apart, pieces scatter in every direction, someone trips and stumbles into the entertainment center, and the garagantuan TV you really didn’t need comes tumbling down on top of little Jimmy!

Now, do you see the dangers of shoddy craftsmanship?

Even so, Trax69 is a great example of ingenuity and creativity. I’m getting tired of so-called “professional designers” drawing cute faces on blanks and selling them for $200-a-pop. They should have a look at Phu’s work and see what it really means to make custom toys. Check out Vinyl is the New Canvas for more images of Trax69 and Phu’s previous creations.

From this…..into this.
